Singapore Math placement tests for your chosen edition

Take the placement list with you

One printable list of the publisher's own test or level guide for 25 math, reading and language arts programs.

If you are choosing Singapore Math materials, start with the official placement tests for the edition you plan to use. Read that edition’s instructions first: some tests check completed learning, while others check readiness to begin. The publisher says to leave tests untimed and watch how your child solves the problems.

Your next step

Choose the series and edition on the official page before opening a test. Singapore Math says the tests should not be scored. Notice mistakes and concepts your child struggles with, then review the series’ scope and sequence alongside the test.

Questions parents ask

Do all the editions use the tests the same way?

No. Dimensions Math and Primary Mathematics U.S. and Standards Editions check whether a student has mastered the tested level. Primary Mathematics Singapore International Edition and 2022 Edition check readiness to begin the tested level. Follow the instructions for your edition.

Should I time or score the test?

Singapore Math says placement tests should not be timed or scored. Its instructions ask you to observe how your child solves problems and which concepts need attention.

Does a test cover every topic in the book?

No. The publisher says placement tests assess representative skills. Review the scope and sequence for the series and level as well.
