Alert me about math curriculum sales

When a math program posts a sale we can confirm, you get one short email, at most twice a week. The free printable sale calendar comes with it.

How to choose a homeschool math curriculum: start with three questions. Mastery or spiral: one topic until it sticks, or a little of everything, often? Screen or book? Faith-based or secular? Then compare the 16 programs below by grades, style and typical price, and give the publisher's placement test before you buy. No program wins for every learner, and a level that fits beats a famous name.

Worldview, grades and style follow each publisher's description. "Next sale" is an announced date when one exists, otherwise our estimate from past sale timing, clearly marked. Always confirm on the brand's site.

Already using a math program?

Before you buy a new one, the free math switch helper checks whether a switch will help and suggests which level to check first, with each placement test or guide. Common switches have their own level-by-level guides.

Questions parents ask

What is the best homeschool math curriculum?

There is no single best one. Families choose by teaching style (mastery or spiral), format (workbook, video or online), grade range and budget. Many math brands offer free trials or placement tests, so you can try before you buy.

Mastery vs spiral math: what's the difference?

Mastery programs stay on one topic until it is solid, then move on. Spiral programs revisit many topics in small doses over time. Neither is better for everyone. Our table lists each program's style as its publisher describes it.

Do I need a placement test?

It helps, especially when switching. Many homeschool math programs publish a placement test, and our directory of placement tests links each publisher's own test or level guide. Abeka has no placement test, and Math with Confidence uses a level guide.

Is there free homeschool math curriculum?

Yes. Our free curriculum list has programs with math at no cost, such as Khan Academy (K-12) and FastMath (grade 3 to adult, free with in-app purchases). Some free programs have paid extras, which we note.
