In short
No curriculum publisher we found publishes a crosswalk to another publisher's levels. These guides place each program on one shared scale from the publisher's own grade, age, skill and placement statements, label every match Confirmed by publisher, Supported by parent reports or Unverified, and send you to the placement test for the final answer. Switch guides FAQ
Is there a chart that matches levels from one curriculum to another?
No publisher we checked publishes one [S0]. Our guides send you to the new program's own placement test or level guide, because that is the publisher's own answer.
Are placement tests free?
Some are, by the publisher's own words. Math Mammoth calls its tests "free diagnostic tests" [S7] (opens in a new tab). Master Books says it offers free placement tests [S8] (opens in a new tab). Many publishers do not say either way, so we only call a test free when its maker does.
What if the program has no placement test?
Some programs use a level guide or a scope and sequence list instead. Abeka publishes scope and sequence lists [S3] (opens in a new tab), and Math with Confidence offers a level guide [S5] (opens in a new tab).
Can a placement test be wrong?
Publishers say tests are a guide, not the last word. Singapore Math says its tests do not cover every topic in a level [S2] (opens in a new tab), and BJU Press says its assessments should be used alongside parent or teacher observation [S4] (opens in a new tab).
When were these pages checked?
Each source shows the date we checked it. Publisher pages change, so check the test page again before you order.
Not on the list? The math switch helper and reading switch helper cover every pairing. See also Placement tests and guides by program and how we match levels.
